The Brazilian-Florida Business Council, Inc. ("BFBC") and Akerman LLP are co-organizing  an executive dinner presentation on Demystifying Litigation in the United StatesWhat Should Brazilian Companies Know?

The economic slowdown that has virtually paralyzed the Brazilian economy has led to an unprecedented increase in litigation in the United States involving Brazilian parties or interests.
Courts in the United States are now regularly being asked to resolve controversies governed by Brazilian law and to determine whether a case should stay in the U.S. or be transferred to Brazil.  A panel of international litigators from the United States will discuss how the legislatures and the courts in the United States are dealing with these new challenges and will share their war stories. Discussion will focus on the standards that apply to foreign claims filed in the United States, with an emphasis on how these standards have been applied in recent decisions involving Brazilian entities.

The guest speakers of this special presentation will be: Luiz A. Perez, Co-Chair of Akerman’s Latin America Practice and Francisco A. Rodriguez, Akerman’s Litigation Partner.  The discussion will be moderated by Felipe Berer, Partner and Head of Brazil Practice at Akerman LLP.

This complimentary, non-transferrable, by invitation only dinner presentation will be held at Trattoria Fasano, Rua Iguatemi, s/n, Itaim Bibi on Tuesday, December 5th at 7 pm.  Email info@brazilfloridabusiness.com for more information.
