ILAN GOLDFAJN - President, Central Bank of Brazil

He was appointed to the position of President of the Central Bank by Minister of Finance Henrique Meirelles on May 12, 2016. Previously, Dr. Goldfajn was the chief economist of Itau Unibanco Holdings. He was a Central Bank Director between 2000 and 2003 and has worked as a consultant for the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the United Nations.

An Israeli-born, he graduated in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, received a master’s degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and a doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Goldfajn has authored books, articles and many academic papers on economic policy.
